Horse'n Around
40’’ In Length, Genuine Green Turquoise nuggets, Orange Spiny Oyster Shell Heishi, 3mm Green Turquoise Beads, Sterling Silver accents Beads, Turquoise Horse Fetish Beads, 8mm and 10mm Natural Fresh Water Cultured White Pearls, all the findings are Sterling Silver and Finished off with a Genuine Indian Head Nickel clasp.
Horse’n Around is inspired by the Native American Fetish Bead Necklaces often seen, I wanted to make this piece a bit playful and add a bit of Cowboy’s and Indians into the mix.
As a kid I was horse crazy from birth. I loved ridding on my saw horse with the rope tail and cigar box head that Grandpa gave me to make my fast steed. I spent many an hour on my saw horse out in the back yard imagining galloping across the plains chasing Buffalo or being a Cowgirl roping wild cattle.
I grew up up watching My friend Flicka, Thunderhead, Roy Rogers, Bonanza, and every John Wayne western in Black and White you can imagine.
I had finally saved up enough money from cleaning out stalls at 25 cents an hour to buy my first horse, My Mom matched what I had saved and now a whopping $350.00 was the Jack Pot to make Mr. Boot’s all mine. A 12 year old Red Sorrel gelding with four white boots and a full White Blaze. He was my everything.
As I digress with memories from a sweeter time. Wear Horse’n Around at full length and Layer with other pieces, or worn doubled. The Town and Country, Boho Chic Southwest Vibe is all about having fun and looking Styled with all your favorites.
No Fooling, Horse’n Around is gonna make you smile and look pretty darn cute.
Photo, 5 year old me wearing Buster Browns and skirt which I hated, I’m dressed in my Fav jacket and head dress, and bow and arrow. Poor Mom, was always trying to girly me up in dresses and bows. Hard to do in a dyed in the wool Tomboy.
